What is AH’s role in the ASAE Certificate Program in Association Management?

AH is proud to be named as the first partner licensed to deliver the program.  AH is licensed to deliver the program in New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, and Maryland.  All instructors for the Program must attend an official ASAE “Train the Trainer” session. The program officially launched at AH on May 1, 2012.

What does the Program include?

The Program includes five one-day courses (modules) which can be taken as a group or individually. The courses were designed to build a strong understanding in the core functions of association management. Attendees will acquire skills that will expand the awareness of leadership traits, team and membership development, decision making, effective communication, the value of membership and the recruitment, retention and recognition of members and volunteers.

All courses also include an assessment of learning, and upon satisfactory completion of the five courses participants will automatically receive the Certificate in Association Management awarded by ASAE University, along with 27.5 CAE professional development credits.

Who should participate in the Program?

The audience for this program is association professionals who want to apply a more systematic approach to their work and improve the success of their organizations. It is designed for those who need a broader basis of knowledge and skills regardless of their years of experience within associations. Course Title Short Description
Essential Practices
in Association Management
It is always beneficial to have a strong understanding of the world of Association Management.  This course provides a big-picture view of the impact that associations have on the world.  This course is the foundation for the entire 5-day certificate program.
Effectively Managing Volunteer Committees & Task Forces It is a fact, that if we didn't have engaged volunteers working in the associations we manage we probably wouldn't have our current client list!   It is so important for everyone to understand that happy volunteers usually equates to happy staff.  This course provides lots of insight to the multiple facets associated with volunteer management.  You will have a better understanding of volunteer recruitment, volunteer retention, and even the importance of volunteer recognition!
Membership Development This course focuses on a key theme of "value", so it is no surprise that the first part of the day will kick-off with a module titled "Offering Value and Purpose."  The rest of the day will be concentrated on sharing techniques and tools to support your Membership Recruitment and Retention efforts.  By the end of the day, you will realize that regardless of position, every association staff member has a responsibility to support the association's membership function.  After all, if we didn't have members, we wouldn't have our clients!
Communication & Public Relations This course provides a broad understanding of key elements considered to be critical to effective communication.  Remember, "Everything you do or say is public relations.
Developing Your Leadership
Potential
Leadership is not an exclusive role reserved for the association President and Executive Director!  The Leadership course will expand your awareness of leadership traits, team development, and the many styles of decision making.  We end the day highlighting the skills required to identify and manage conflict.  As a leader, you'll soon understand that when conflicts are managed, they can actually become productive and provide an opportunity for growth!
